Rigol increases screen refresh rate for the MSO8000

To facilitate display and operation, Rigol has increased the screen refresh rate for the MSO8000 digital oscilloscope family.

The MSO8000 series is part of the UltraVision II oscilloscope portfolio, which also includes the proprietary ASIC chipset.

The oscilloscope has standard bandwidths of 600MHz, 1.0 and 2.0GHz (for two channels) and a maximum sampling rate of 10Gsamples per second for fast signal acquisition and analysis. Typical applications include automated testing in factories, protocol analysis for serial buses in vehicle electronics, measurement of electronic circuits, switching performance measurements and analysis in the power domain, advises Rigol.

The latest official firmware version includes increase screen refresh rate using web control, which makes display and operation even easier, says Rigol. For example, to create the zone trigger, the required field can be defined with the mouse.

In addition, Rigol has revised the driver for the 10.1-inch colour touch display. At the same time, the display quality of the signal trace in XY mode has been significantly optimised. To improve the overview during the measurement, Rigol has implemented the mathematical application in such a way that the channel used for this can be switched off so that only the mathematical trace (e.g. the FFT with up to one million samples) is visible on the screen. The already diverse decoding options have been expanded to include CAN FD decoding in these devices.

The 500Mpoint (standard) memory depth is available for the acquisition and processing of large amounts of data. Using the recording function, this memory can be increased to 900 by segmentation (e.g. nine frames of 100Mpoints each) or by setting a small memory, recording and playback of signals up to 450,000 frames can be achieved.

The measurement methods of the instruments include real time eye diagram and jitter analysis software, whereby the jitter trend is complemented with the histogram for digital analysis.

A variety of trigger, math and display options (mask test and power analysis) as well as an integrated signal search function are available, including serial bus protocol analysis and trigger functions. An integrated voltmeter, frequency counter and an optional two-channel arbitrary function generator complete the range of measurements. Interfaces such as USB host, USB device, HDMI, LAN, USB GPIB (adapter) and ‘aux out’ are also available.

The oscilloscopes are covered with a three year guarantee. There is also a range of accessories including active and passive probes, high-voltage probes and 19-inch mounting frames, software drivers for well-known packages and high-level languages, and the free UltraScope OS.
