RS Components adds new series of USB-C devices from Amphenol
Ruggedised MUSBR USB-C connectors and dust caps from Amphenol are now available from RS Components. They are designed for smartphones, tablets, PCs and laptops as well as power packs and chargers and in areas such as industrial machinery.
The MUSBR range of PCB-mounted USB-C 3.1 connector receptacles are rugged in construction and IP67 rated for harsh environments. The connectors are capable of supporting high-speed data transmission rates and handling up to 100W of power. The connector is inside a high-temperature thermoplastic housing encased in a nickel-plated, die-cast zinc outer shell with stainless-steel rear shields for extra protection. The connectors are available with right angle or vertical solder tails.
A reversible plug interface ensures the plugs are able to mate first time in any orientation, says the company. This eliminates misalignment and mating issues, it says. The compact design means they are small enough for use with mobile phones and robust enough for laptops and tablets.
High-temperature silicone rubber dust caps, for use with the MUSBR series are available separately. They protect and prevent water and dust ingress when the connectors are not in use. They have a brass nickel-plated bushing with a 2.57mm diameter hole for mounting, and are available in black and grey colours.
