Rutronik recognises value of Omron HVC-P2 B5T
Distributor, Rutronik adds the latest module from Omron Electronic Components Europe to its portfolio. The HVC face recognition module from Omron has a maximum recognition speed of up to 10 times that of the company’s earlier unit.
Embedded developers can use the module to add face recognition functionality to a system without the need to understand the algorithms or the optical design. The HVC-P2 B5T is available with a 50 or 90 degree camera.
The Omron HVC-P2 B5T offers 10 image sensing functions: detection of a human face, hand or body, face recognition, gender detection, age estimation, mood estimation, facial pose estimation, gaze estimation and blink estimation. In each case the module returns a value together with a degree of certainty, allowing the programmer to configure the response appropriately for each individual application.
In addition to the increase in speed, the HVC-P2 B5T module offers greater consistency of response, and an increased distance over which readings can be taken, says Rutronik.
To make this latest module easier to integrate, it is supplied in two parts. The first is a 25 x 25 x 8.7mm camera board and a 45 x 45 x 8.2mm main board. There are two types of HV-P2 B5T modules available. There is a long range type with an angle of view of 40 x 50 degree and a wide, 70 x 90 degree angle view. The module is also available with a choice of a UART or USB interface.
The HVC face recognition module is deigned to be used in vending machines, home appliances, air conditioning units, robots matching people, lights targeting only people, hands-free machine operation and door-opening systems, allowing access to registered people.
