Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 WX-Series outstrips competition

According to AMD, the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 WX-Series of workstation processors offer up to double the performance of competing solutions.

The series ranges from the consists of the 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen Threadripper 5945WX to the 64-core, 128-thread AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX.

The series builds on AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3000 WX processors, to perform across multiple workstation workloads courtesy of the Zen 3 core architecture and the enterprise security features, manageability, and scalability of AMD Pro technologies. The Ryzen Threadripper Pro processors have an enhanced L3 cache architecture and high frequencies for tackling lightly threaded workloads, while also delivering multi-threaded performance.

According to AMD, the processors deliver up to double the performance of competing single socket solutions and up to 95 per cent higher performance than workstations using two competing server processors.

They also support 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, enabling more graphics and storage expandability than competing solutions, claimed AMD. The processors enable up to 43 per cent higher graphics performance and up to 2.2 times the storage performance of competing solutions, continued the company.

The Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 WX-Series processors consume up to 67 per cent lower power per core, to deliver up to double the performance-to-power ratio of competing solutions, according to AMD. The processors are designed to handle the most complex professional workloads, with the ability to render and edit in 8K, develop complex simulations and designs and rapidly develop and compile code.

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 WX-Series processors are available in the Lenovo ThinkStation P620.

For more than 50 years, AMD has driven innovation in high performance computing, graphics, and visualisation technologies.
