SATA flash storage systems are economic for industrial use

Industrial and embedded application developers will enjoy the economic, reliable 3D NAND flash-based storage in the N200 family, says Smart Modular Technologies.

The SATA products in the family have burst speed and low power consumption, amd are described as an economic option for NAS/SAN storage systems, x86 server-storage appliances, distributed scale-out servers, telecomms and networking routers and switches, industrial control and printers.

They are built using triple level cell (TLC) 3D NAND technology. The N200 family consists of the mSATA (MO-300), the M.2 2242 and 2280, the Slim SATA (MO-297), and the removable 2.5 inch solid state drive form factors for industrial-grade non-volatile memory in embedded computing applications. The N200 SATA products are offered in capacities ranging from 32Gbyte to 1Tbyte, depending on form factor, and all are available in industrial and commercial temperatures.

The family offers a burst read/write performance that is suitable for applications that require lower drive capacity and use the drive for boot up code and operating system (OS) code storage. The higher capacity drives are suitable for transaction intensive applications such as x86 server-storage appliances, telecommunications and networking routers and switches, Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) computer blades, single board computers for defence, gaming, industrial control applications and printers.

They also include advanced static and dynamic wear leveling, advanced error detection and correction circuitry for superior data reliability, self-monitoring analysis and reporting technology. The N200 also supports 48bit logical block addressing (LBA) with a larger maximum transfer size.

The N200 family can be seen at Embedded World, in Nuremberg, Germany (26 to 28 February) in Hall 3A stands 3A-600 and 3A-606.
