Sensor evaluation kit has 10 sensors for prototyping
Distributor Mouser Electronics now stocks the SENSORSHLD1-EVK-101 Sensor Shield evaluation kit from Rohm Semiconductor. This second-generation Sensor Shield integrates 10 on-board sensors into a board with an Arduino Uno R3-compatible layout to ensure the kit works with existing open source prototyping platforms.
The kit enables design engineers to create build a sensor environment for prototyping and initial set development for IoT and M2M applications. According to the company, it removes the hardware and software challenges of switching out sensors by incorporating Rohm sensors on an Arduino Uno R3-compatible board: Sensors include a BDE0600G analogue temperature sensor, BU52014HFV omnipolar hall switch sensor with polarity discrimination, KX122 digital accelerometer, KXG03 digital gyroscope and accelerometer, ML8511A analogue ultraviolet (UV) light sensor, RPR-0521 digital ambient light sensor and proximity sensor and BH1745 digital colour sensor.
The board also integrates a digital barometric pressure sensor, magnetometer, digital magnetometer and accelerometer, and digital microphone.
The kit is compatible with many open source platforms, including the Intel Arduino 101 development board and NXP LPCXpresso541xx development tools, allowing engineers to evaluate sensor-based designs for industrial, automotive and smart buildins.
