Seven CATV amplifiers extend Macom Technology’s wired broadband range

Single-ended and differential 75-Ohm amplifiers announced by Macom Technology cover 5.0 to 1218MHz and address upstream and downstream DOCSIS 3.1 CATV infrastructure applications.

The CATV amplifiers are designed for 5.0V operation covering both upstream 5.0 to 300MHz and downstream 45 to 1218MHz. They are offered in a single ended SOT-89 package and differential SOIC-8EP package. Each product family is layout-compatible for use on the same system board.

These devices are designed specifically for DOCSIS 3.1 distributed and legacy HFC (hybrid fibre coax) networks. The DOCSIS3.1 standard addresses demand for higher broadband performance from multiple service operators.

The single-ended, 5.0V SOT-89 family is made up of the MAAL-011139, MAAM-011162, MAAM-011251 and MAAM-011258.

The MAAL-011139 is a 21.5dB Gain, low noise figure, high linearity amplifier operating from 5.0 to 1218MHz. The amplifier is assembled in a three-lead SOT-89 plastic package and can be biased from 3.0 to 5.0V with adjustable current achieving a noise figure of 1.2dB and OIP3 of 34dBm.

The MAAM-011162 is a single-ended high linearity, low noise figure amplifier covering both up- and downstream bands of 5.0 to 1218MHz. It is also in a three-lead SOT-89 plastic package and provides 18dB of flat gain in both up and down stream applications.

The MAAM-011251 is a single-ended high linearity, low noise figure amplifier covering both up and downstream bands of 5.0 to 1218MHz. It is also in a three-lead SOT-89 plastic package and provides 15dB of flat gain in both up- and downstream applications.

The MAAM-011258 single-ended high linearity, low noise figure amplifier covers the same up- and downstream bands and is assembled in a three-lead SOT-89 plastic package and provides 12dB of flat gain in both up- and downstream applications.

The differential 5.0V models are the MAAM-011163, the MAAM-011240 and MAAM-011250.

The MAAM-011163 is a 19dB gain differential amplifier covering both upstream and downstream bands at 5.0 to 218MHz. It is assembled in a SOIC-8EP plastic package, and offers a noise figure of 2.4dB and OIP3 of 42dBm.

The MAAM-011240 is a 17dB gain differential amplifier, also covering upstream and downstream bands of 5.0 to 1218MHz. It is also assembled in a SOIC8EP plastic package and offers a noise figure of 2.6dB and OPI3 of 44dBm.

The MAAM-011250 is a 15dB gain differential amplifier covering the same upstream and downstream bands and is assembled in a SOIC8EP plastic package. It offers a noise figure of 2.8dB and OPI3 of 44dBm.
