Smart Displays are based on Raspberry PI for Industry 4.0
At next month’s SPS IPC Drives (28 to 30 November) in Nuremberg, Germany, Distec will present a POS-line IoT monitor for industry 4.0 applications.
Part of the company’s POS-Line series, the new monitor is based on the company’s in-house developed Artista-IoT controller board, integrating the latest generation of the Raspberry PI Compute Module (CM3).
It is designed to be used as a networkable monitor or panel PC, on which users can visualise the digitalisation of their processes and enhance efficiency through a transparent manufacture. The POS-Line IoT monitor or panel PC is able to be used with industrial IoT applications and digital signage.
The monitor is easy to adapt to individual environments, says Distec. An expensive PC with a lot of peripherals is now redundant, it claims. Without any license costs, Distec intelligently connects nearly any device. Individual solutions by the Germany TFT specialist include HMI devices, digital whiteboard and production visualisation (worker guidance, Andon systems, process status displays), medical technology, aerospace, and digital signage.
The Artista-IoT controller card provides direct control, 100Mbit Ethernet, a real-time clock, and special functions such as DICOM pre-set, gamma correction, and colour calibration. Available interfaces include USB, GPIOs, I²C, and UART.
Compatibility with Raspberry PI offers the broad support of a large community of developers.
Distec also offers a starter kit. This includes a baseboard, CM3, 10.1-inch display with PCAP multi-touch and all necessary cables.
