Smart IoT gateways implement industrial IoT

At this year’s Hannover Messe, Insys icom will present how to implement industrial IoT with its smart IoT gateways.

The icom smart IoT gateways allow the implementation of a variety of applications, from data logging to edge computing and professional remote maintenance, whilst supporting all common protocols.

Designed for the industrial IoT, VPN routers are combined with the IoT gateways of the MRX-, MRO-, SCR- and ECR-series. They use a feature-rich, hardened IoT operating system (icom OS), integrated computing power for applications (icom SmartBox) and scalable software for edge computing (icom Data Suite). In addition to data transmission, secure and flexible communication connections, they offer data processing and control options on site, e.g. as intelligent protocol converters. Even small plants or retrofitted plants can be connected with an unparalleled cost to benefit ratio. Commissioning and roll-out processes and the operation of the gateways are made easy, quick and secure using the device management OAM, adds Insys.

The smart energy gateway connects renewable energy plants, grid stations and control centres securely and flexibly, e.g. via IEC 60870-5-101/104. Simple automation tasks can be realised without using cost-intensive control technology.

There is also the smart machinery gateway which makes machines and plants secure, cost-efficient and durable for the industrial IoT. It integrates established industrial protocols such as OPC UA or Siemens S7/S5. Processes can be interconnected to gain time and save costs, adds Insys. The gateway allows for machine data to be provided all relevant stakeholders in compliance with IT security and data protection requirements.

Visit Insys icom at Hannover Messe (1 to 5 April 2019) in Hannover, Germany at its stand in Hall 8-E07.
