Software is added to Smart for insights into mobile network
As technologies such as IoT and 5G rollout, mobile network operators need to overcome the challenges of complex air interfaces and demanding use cases to deliver the required quality of experience (QoE) to end users. AS part of this requirement, Rohde & Schwarz has introduced SmartAnalytics software, as part of the Smart platform. It combines data acquisition with intelligent post-processing analytics to generate QoE-centric network insights. Operators can identify critical factors influencing quality and performance for network optimisation and benchmarking.
The webs-based software has been added with its SmartAnalytics suite. Mobile network operators to effectively store, process and visualise big data, gain deep network insights and build intelligence for network investment prioritisation based on the most critical factors influencing performance and QoE.
SmartAnalytics is a suite of analytics combined with a modular set of software and hardware components for data acquisition. SmartAnalytics offers versatile, use case driven analytics features to generate QoE-centric insights for the network lifecycle, from engineering to benchmarking, optimisation and monitoring. Comparison with other networks is also possible.
Rohde & Schwarz claims that SmartAnalytics reduces the need to purchase additional test and measurement equipment for different stages of the lifecycle, to make efficient use of test data.
SmartAnalytics reduces operational complexity and increases productivity, continues Rohde & Schwarz. It uses a seamless user interface, integration of the network performance score (NPS), which characterises the network in a single integrated metric. Finally, a direct drill-down capability provides root cause analysis based on Layer 3 information.
The powerful analytics suite offers features for data management and validation as well as statistical and diagnostic analysis (root cause analysis). It uses embedded machine learning to guide data analysis and extract key insights otherwise hidden in the structure of the data.
SmartAnalytics supports new technologies such as 5G NR, together with what is claimed to be the world’s first 5G NR network measurement from Rohde & Schwarz, which is based on a network scanner with matching 5G NR scanning software and the RomeS4 drive test software suite. SmartAnalytics aggregates the data to provide a network overview. Its dive-in analysis allows users to look at every specific measurement point for the efficient rollout of 5G NR networks.

Hardware ensures uniform RF conditions for all network probes to minimise factors that may distort the measurement of network performance and guaranteeing accurate, reproducible and comparable data acquisition.
