Software simulates power networks

An updated version of the power quality simulator has been announced by Schaffner. The SchaffnerPQS3’s power quality topics, such as harmonics caused by non-linear loads, can be quantified and documented, says the company. The tool can also conduct performance simulations of mitigation tools, such as ecosine power quality filters.

The tool can simulate power networks and users can quickly find answers on how to solve power quality issues with the help of the broad PQ product portfolio. It also offers report functions and features compliance checking with all relevant international power quality standards.

Upgrades include back-end simulation engine power and accuracy improvement, a new GUI design, accessing wiring by left click, delete function by the delete button. Users can share projects with colleagues/partners by simply copying the URL link. The company says that the AHF simulation model is more accurate than in earlier versions. A generator model and 18-pulse autotransformer, the Mitigator, is included. Customer-specific AC line chokes functionality is now available
