TE Connectivity adds to Mini I/O connector system with Cat6A technology
Connectivity and sensor company, TE Connectivity, has expanded its Mini I/O product family with a Mini I/O Cat6A cable connector that combines a small form-factor with connection speed.
The Mini I/O connector will be made available in a field installable version and a version for cable harness makers for volume use. The connector completes the family of industrial Mini I/O connectors supporting serial, bus and Ethernet communication up to 10Gbit per second (Cat6A) performance making all connections work in industrial environments.
According to TE Connectivity, the industrial internet of things (IIoT) is driving up the number of electrical connections in the latest industrial automation production lines. Traditional existing connectors lack the performance, reliability and size that is expected from today’s industrial solutions, says TE Connectivity. The Mini I/O is superior from a shock and vibration standpoint, offering a more stable connection due to a stable mechanical interface and double spring/double contact point layout.
The Mini I/O family has superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding when compared to traditional solutions like RJ45 connectors, claims TE Connectivity.
The Mini I/O Cat6A cable connector can be combined with TE’s current offering on Mini I/O board connectors (R/A, SMT), to provide industrial manufacturers with a solution for small form factor industrial 10Gbit per second (Cat6A) connections.
