Technosoft claims iPOS2401 MX-CAT is world’s smallest EtherCAT drive
For high-end positioning applications, where space is critical, Technosoft claims that it has developed the world’s smallest servo drive with an EtherCAT interface.
The iPOS2401 servo drive is small and light. It measures 19 x 50 x 10mm, and weighs just 12g. The iPOS2401 MX-CAT drive can be used in high precision positioning applications with a choice of motor technology – brushless, stepper, DC/voice coil or linear requiring no more than 1.0A continuous at 24V.
Users can achieve an optimal mechanical integration, due to the plug-in design of the iPOS2401 that is flexible, says Technosoft in terms of motherboard design and connectors choice, for either single or multi-axes applications.
Although it is a miniaturised drive, the iPOS2401 does not compromise in performance, insists Technosoft. It supports full CoE (CAN application protocol over EtherCAT), which makes it suitable for medical, robotics, instrumentation or automation projects, says Technosoft.
Another CAN version is available, embedding a motion controller that can execute complex motion sequences programmed in TML (Technosoft Motion Language), stored at drive level and called by specific CANopen commands to reduce the bus traffic in multi-axis applications.
The iPOS2401 EtherCAT and CANopen versions have been added to the Technosoft portfolio of intelligent drives with embedded motion controller for high-end positioning applications and ranging from 25W to 1.6kW.
