Toshiba launches 100V N-channel MOSFETs, targeting quick chargers

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has expanded its U-MOS VIII-H series, adding two low-voltage N-channel power MOSFETs. They offer lower power consumption, due to 4.5V logic level drive, says the company, making them suitable for applications including quick chargers, switched-mode power supplies and DC/DC converters. Both the 100V N-channel TPH6R30ANL and TPH4R10ANL power MOSFETs support the quick charger 4.5V logic level drive.

The popularity and evolution of quick chargers has led to demand for higher performance power MOSFETs for use in secondary-side rectifiers. The TPH6R30ANL and TPH4R10ANL MOSFETs use Toshiba’s low-voltage trench structure process to achieve what it claims is industry-leading on-resistance and high-speed performance.

The semiconductor structure improves the fundamental figure of merit (FoM) (RDS(ON) * Qsw or gate switch charge), to improve performance in switching applications. Output losses are improved by the reduction of output charge, says Toshiba, contributing to higher system efficiency.

The TPH6R30ANL offers current handling (ID) up to 45A and RDS(ON) as low as 6.3mOhm while the TPH4R10ANL is rated at 70A and 4.1mOhm.

Support for 4.5V logic level drive enables buffer-less drive from the controller IC, contributing to reducing power consumption. The Furthermore, the TPH6R30ANL and TPH4R10ANL MOSFETs are compatible with the high output voltage power supplies required in USB 3.0 related applications. They are offered in the standard 5.0 x 6.0mm package SOP-Advance, designed to help reduce the PCB space required.

Both devices are available for immediate shipment.

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) is the European electronic components business of Toshiba Corporation. TEE offers IC and discrete product lines including memory, microcontrollers, ASICs (application specification integrated circuits) and ASSPs (application specific standard products) for automotive, multimedia, industrial, telecoms and networking applications. The company also has a range of power semiconductor and storage products including HDDs, SSDs, SD cards and USB sticks.
