TPS3000 three-phase input industrial power supply negates step-down transformers: TDK-Lambda says that its latest introduction, the TPS3000-48, three-phase input industrial power supply avoids the need for step down transformers that traditional 208/230V AC input power supplies require.
The TPS3000-48 has been added to TDK-Lambda’s TPS3000 series of industrial supplies. The 3,200W, 48V at 66.7A rated model is capable of operating from a 350 to 528V AC, three phase input in a Delta or Wye configuration. As well as not requiring step down transformers, TDK-Lambda says that the TPS3000 model’s phase current balancing is simplified. Suitable applications include test equipment, digital printers, laser cutting, RF power amplifiers and semiconductor fabrication equipment.
The TPS3000 has a range of programming, monitoring and control signals, including isolated AC fail, DC good and dropped-phase signals, remote on/off and remote sense functions and a 12V 0.3A standby supply. The PMBus communications interface allows remote monitoring of the output voltage, output current, internal temperature, status signals and fan speed. The output voltage, over-current limit and remote on/off can be programmed via the PMBus. Alternatively, the output voltage can also be adjusted from 38.4 to 56.5V and current limit point by 70 to 105 per cent using the front panel potentiometers or an analogue 0 to 5.0V DC voltage. For higher power applications, up to eight units can be connected in a parallel. Redundant operation is also possible with the TPS3000 internal ORing FETs (field effect transistors).
The TPS3000-48 has efficiency of 92 per cent and delivers full power in ambient temperatures of between -40 and +50 degree C, derating linearly to 55 per cent load at +70 degree C. Acoustic noise is minimised and fan life extended with the use of a temperature controlled, variable speed internal fan. The supplies measure 107 x 84.4 x 324mm and can be mounted in 2U racks.
The power supply has 3kV AC input to output, 2kV AC input to ground and 500V AC output to ground isolation. All models are certified to UL/CSA 60950-1, IEC/EN 60950-1 and carry the CE mark for Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives. TDK-Lambda’s TPS3000 series complies with EN55022-A conducted and radiated emissions, and meets the IEC 61000-3-2 harmonics, IEC 61000-4 immunity and SEMI F47-0706 standards
