Two DC/DC converters extend range
Two DC/DC converters extend range: Two DCM converters from Vicor have been added to the company’s offering. They are available in a ChiP package, an isolated, regulated DC/DC converter, operating from an unregulated, wide range input to generate an isolated DC output.
It is based on high frequency zero-voltage switching (ZVS) topology, to deliver high efficiency across the input line range, says the company. Modular DCM converters and downstream DC/DC products support efficient power distribution, and provide connectivity from a variety of unregulated power sources to the PoL.
They can be used in a variety of applications, including UAV, ground vehicle, radar, transportation and industrial controls.
The first DCM is the 30V input nominal module (9.0 to 50V range) in a 3623 ChiP package, measuring 1.52 x 0.90 x 0.29inch. The converter has an output voltage of 15V maximum power of 160W, achieving a power density of 404W/in3.
There is also the 375W module with a nominal input voltage of 275V (120 to 420V) and 24V output in a 4623 ChiP package, measuring 1.89 x 0.90 x 0.29inch, achieving a power density of 775W/in3.
