Vector network analyser exploits multi-port for simultaneous test

Believed to be the first vector network analyser (VNA) with a broad frequency range from 100kHz to 40GHz and up to 24 integrated test ports, the R&S ZNBT40 is available from Rohde & Schwarz.

The VNA can be used for measurements on 5G antenna arrays, says Rohde & Schwarz. The multi-port architecture is advantageous for tests on multi-port components, but also for simultaneous testing of multiple devices under test (DUTs) in production to boost throughput. It measures up to 24 test ports at the same time, enabling measurements on multi-port components as well as simultaneous parallel measurements on multiple DUTs.

Rohde & Schwarz ensures specified performance on up to 24 test ports. Its frequency range of up to 40GHz enables manufacturers of active and passive components to use the R&S ZNBT40 VNA for a variety of multi-antenna communications systems (MIMO, SISO, MISO), including radar systems for aerospace and defence and for measurements on front-end modules, antenna arrays and beamformer chips for 5G NR.

The R&S ZNBT is currently the only multi-port VNA that can measure in the frequency spectrum below 300kHz, for specification tests in accordance with standards such as USB-C.

Users can perform signal integrity tests in order to check crosstalk or length offset between lines or to detect faults in cables. Depending on the system to be measured, the R&S ZNBT40 can save time and cost savings for measurements in development, service and production by making up to 24 measurements in parallel.

In addition to measuring S-parameters on multi-port devices, the R&S ZNBT VNAs can perform phase measurements on up to 24 signals.

Rohde & Schwarz ensures specified performance on all R&S ZNBT test ports. Users can count on long-term measurement stability thanks to the instrument’s raw RF data.

The multi-port vector network analyzers R&S ZNBT40 joins the ZNBT26, ZNBT8  and ZNBT20 which can be equipped with up to 24 integrated test ports.
