Voltage suppressors from Vishay are now available from TTI
Claimed to be the industry’s first bi-directional 1,500W, surface-mount PAR transient voltage suppressors (TVS) in a low-profile eSMP SMPC (TO-277A) package, Vishay TPCxxCA devices are now available in Europe at TTI.
They have a low profile of typically 1.1mm, which is around 52 per cent lower than the traditional SMC package, says the company, and a 38 per cent smaller footprint.
The TVS series combines high power density, allowing board space and cost savings. Typical applications include protecting sensitive electronics against voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lightning on ICs, MOSFETs, and signal lines of sensor units for automotive, consumer, computer, industrial and telecommunication equipment.
The TPC11CA to TPC36CA surface mount TVS feature a junction passivation optimized, patented PAR construction, with a temperature range of −65 to +185 degree C. Bi-directional breakdown voltage is from 11 to 36V and clamping capability is 15.6 to 49.9V. Other benefits include low leakage current and fast response times, says the company. The TVS can be used for automated placement and meet MSL level 1 standards per J-STD-020, as well as being RoHS-compliant and halogen-free. The devices are available in AEC-Q101-qualified versions.
