World’s fastest client CoMs are based on Intel’s latest Core processors

Hot on the heels of the launch of Intel’s launch of its 13th Gen Intel Core processors, congatec has announced the availability of COM-HPC and COM Express CoMs (computer on modules) based on the 13th Gen Intel Core processors in BGA assembly.

The new processors have enhancements and long life availability yet are fully hardware compatible with predecessors. The new modules are based on the new COM-HPC standard offering increased data throughput, I/O bandwidth and performance density.

The COM-HPC and COM Express CoMs provide up to eight per cent single thread and up to five per cent multi-thread performance gains from the soldered 13th Gen Intel Core processors compared to 12th Gen Intel Core processors, reported congatec. There is also a higher power efficiency due to an enhanced manufacturing process, said the company.

Other new features in this 15 to 45W base power performance class are DDR5 memory support and PCIe Gen5 connectivity on selected models. Both features contribute to multi-thread performance and data throughput.

The CoMs also feature integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics architecture, with up to 80 EU and fast encode and decode capabilities for enhanced graphics demands such as those found in video streaming and video data-based situational awareness applications. These features make the modules suitable for use in a range of industrial, medical, AI and machine learning (ML) applications, as well as all types of embedded and edge computing with workload consolidation.

The new conga-HPC/cRLP Computer-on-Module in COM-HPC Size A form factor and the compact conga-TC675 module based on the new COM Express 3.1 specification will become available in Intel Core i3 and i5 as well as Intel Pentium variants.

Application engineers can deploy the new COM-HPC computer on modules on congatec’s Micro-ATX application carrier board conga-HPC/uATX for COM-HPC client type modules to access all the benefits and improvements of these new modules with fast PCIe Gen5 connectivity.
