300W DC input range converter complies with rail and industrial standards

Patented in-rush current control topology features in the IRV300 from Murata. The 300W chassis-mount, wide 10:1 DC input range converter delivers efficiency above 92 per cent.

The IRV300 is designed for harsh operating environments in railway and industrial applications. It conforms to EN50155, EN50121, and EN45545, and has an operating ambient temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C.

It covers a wide DC input voltage range of 16.8 to 160Vdc, to accommodate all potential battery sizes with a single part number for ease of inventory. Single 300W outputs of 12, 24 and 54V are available with output voltage adjustment capability of up to ±15 per cent, which covers all major application voltages. Galvanic isolation between the input and output is in excess of 4kVdc.

Standard features include enable on/off, input under-voltage lockout adjustment, wide output voltage adjustment range and an LED indicator. Optional features include a hold up capacitance for class S2 applications and OR’ing FETs for parallel redundancy. The IRV300 also features self-protection to external short circuits, over- current protection and over-temperature protection with self-resetting capability.

Murata manufactures electronic components, modules and devices. Its product range includes ceramic capacitors, resistors and thermistors, inductors and chokes, timing devices, buzzers, sensors and EMI suppression filters. The company is a ceramic capacitor manufacturer and also produces Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules, board-mount DC/DC converters and standard and custom AC/DC power supplies.
