Bi-directional ESD diode protects portable devices up to 30kV
Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced a bi-directional electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection diode which is mainly targeted at interface protection in applications. The DF2B7ASL has a minimum footprint requirement such as portable equipment.
The DF2B7ASL features a snapback characteristic. It can provide low clamping voltages, which together with the low dynamic resistance of the diode ensures superior protective performance to safeguard semiconductors ICs against static electricity. The diode is housed in compact packaging, making it suitable for applications such as interfaces in smartphones, wearables and other battery powered equipment.
The diode has low dynamic resistance of 0.2-Ohm and a low clamping voltage (VC) of 11V at 5.0V signal lines (VRWM is less than or equal to 5.5V). The DF2B7ASL offers an ESD voltage rating of ±30kV in accordance with IEC61000-4-2 (contact discharge).
To meet the small footprints required for smartphones and portable devices, the DF2B7ASL diodes are supplied in a SOD-962 (SL2) package with a board mounting footprint of only 0.32 x 0.62mm.
