Vishay claims inductors are first qualified for space-grade applications
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a series of low profile, high current IHLP inductors, claiming they are the industry’s first to meet the requirements of MIL-STD-981 class S. Designed to provide high reliability in space-grade applications, inductors in the Vishay Custom Magnetics SGIHLP series feature a ruggedised package and perform at high operating temperatures to +180 degrees C.
The SGIHLP features a magnetically shielded construction. They are optimised for DC/DC converters and high current noise suppression filters in satellites and defence systems. Applications for the inductors include low profile, high current power supplies and PoL converters, flight-ready solar inverters, high current filters and DC/DC converters in distributed power systems.
The SGIHLP is offered in five case sizes and features high efficiency with typical DCR from 0.56 to 240mOhm and a range of inductance values from 0.22 to 100-microH.
Based on proven IHLP technology, the devices provide rated currents to 100A and handle high transient current spikes without saturation. The inductors offer excellent inductance and saturation stability over the complete operating temperature range, claims Vishay Intertechnology.
The SGIHLP-24DC-8 is in a 24DC case, measuring 6.2 x 6.7 x 4.3mm. The SGIHLP-48FA-8 is in a 48FA case, measuring 12.2 x 12.9 x 6.1mm. The SGIHLP-60HE-8 is in a 60HE case with dimensions of 15.5 x 15.2 x 8.5mm. The SGIHLP-73HF-8 is in a 73HF case, measuring 18.8 x19.2 x 8.6mm and the SGIHLP-97OZ-8 is in a 97OZ case and measures 27.2 x 24.5 x 15mm.
Vishay Intertechnology is a Fortune 1000 Company and manufactures discrete semiconductors (diodes, MOSFETs, and infrared optoelectronics) and passive electronic components (resistors, inductors, and capacitors). These components are used in electronic devices and equipment, in the industrial, computing, automotive, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, power supplies, and medical markets.
