Backbone switch increases data transfer

Data transfer is faster and more reliable, with the Dragon Mach4000 Layer 3 backbone switches, claims Belden.

The Hirschmann Layer 3 backbone switches allow engineers to transfer larger quantities of data faster without compromising network availability or performance, adds the company, to meet the challenges of increasing data density and getting information from the field level to the control room quickly. Belden has updated the Hirschmann Mach4000 switch, with extended flexibility and bandwidth capabilities.

Variants with four ports that can be set up for 2.5 or 10Gbit speeds, redundant power supplies and new, advanced interfaces, to help engineers in data-rich industrial environments connect OT and IT networks and transition to 10Gbit speeds.

The Dragon Mach4000 switches will also maximise availability with redundant backbone infrastructures and support the transition from one Gbit networks to 2.5Gbit, and then to 10Gbit as the network bandwidth requirements increase.

The switches are suited to applications that require high bandwidths and reliable data transfer, especially in transportation, including mass transit systems such as railway and train stations, airports and rail-rolling stock. They can also be used in manufacturing, power transmission, distribution and oil and gas applications.

Belden was an early innovator in industrial Ethernet, specialising in industrial IT and industrial networking, including wired, wireless and embedded products. Its global brands are Hirschmann, GarrettCom and Tofino Security.

Belden helps companies minimise downtime and to take advantage of the real-time data access and control made possible by the industrial internet of things (IIoT).

Belden provides end-to-end signal transmission solutions, with a product portfolio designed to meet the mission-critical network infrastructure needs of industrial, enterprise and broadcast markets.

Founded in 1902, the company is headquartered in St. Louis and has manufacturing capabilities in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
