DC/DC converters reduce mounting area demands
Based on Torex Semiconductor’s HiSAT-COT control technology, the XC9281/XC9282 are 600mA step down DC/DC converters introduced by the company.
HiSAT-COT is a proprietary high-speed transient response technology developed by Torex for DC/DC converters for large scale integration (LSI) packages that require high precision and high stability power supply voltage.
The XC9281/XC9282 are 600 mA synchronous rectification DC/DC converters, which can 0.47 microH coil, measuring 1.0 x 0.5mm to increase the oscillation frequency to high frequency. A 0.6 x 0.3mm ceramic capacitor can be used for the input capacitance (CIN) and the output capacitance (CL). Torex says that the mounting area, including peripheral components, can be reduced to 6.6mm2.
Additionally, an efficiency equal to or higher than that of conventional products can be realised by improving on-resistance and current consumption, claims Torex, making the XC9281 / XC9282 suitable for space constrained equipment or that with a low profile mounting area, as well as battery-powered equipment such as mobile equipment.
The high-speed transient response of the HiSAT-COT control technology makes it possible to minimise the fluctuation of the output voltage for a load transient condition. This feature is particularly beneficial for applications requiring a fast response and output voltage stability for an instantaneous load fluctuation, such as an FPGA.
