LED curing lamp bonds in tight spaces, in seconds

Able to bond small surfaces in seconds, the DeloLux 503 is a compact LED curing lamp from Delo. It is for use in industrial applications with limited work space.

The powerful DeloLux 503 directs light diagonally downward so that it does not need to be installed at level with the components that need to be bonded. This gives more moving space to axes or grippers and helps to integrate complex systems. It can bond small surfaces, like cameras used in autonomous cars, within seconds on serial production lines, says Delo.

The lamp irradiates an area of 18 x 6mm at a working distance of 15mm. The spot light source is available in two versions, one with a wavelength of 365nm and a nominal intensity of more than 1000mW/cm², fixing in less than a second, the other has a higher wavelength of 400nm and an intensity of more than 1600mW/cm² and offers better penetration of minimally translucent plastics and is optimised for deep curing of the adhesive.

The UV lamp ensures high process reliability through continuous intensity control, internal control and monitoring of important parameters like LED temperature, says Delo. Up to four LED heads can be controlled by the Delo-UniPro, Delo-UniPro Light controllers or by an external PLC, allowing the adhesive to be evenly exposed from several angles.

The emission spectrum of LED lamps can be adjusted to the specific adhesive, enabling optimised curing of the adhesive and preventing unnecessary heat input into the component from unused wavelengths. LEDs have longevity and low energy consumption, helping to make the production process cost-efficient, Delo notes.

Delo manufactures industrial adhesives used within the automotive, aviation, optoelectronics and industrial electronics industries. It is headquartered in Windach, Germany and has subsidiaries in the USA, China, Singapore and Japan.
