Advantech designs Pico-ITX SBC for secure data access

Onboard LPDDR4 and eMMC features in the MIO-2361, Pico-ITX single board computer (SBC), developed by Advantech. It has onboard LPDDR4-2400 and 32G eMMC powered by Intel Atom E3900 series/Pentium N4200/Celeron N3350 processors. The rugged design of the MIO-2361 means typical memory (socket type) assemblies are not used. The MIO-2361 offers deep power down mode, 12V/24V ± 10% power input, better storage capacity, M.2/mSATA, and operation across -40 to +85 degrees C.

Intelligent Management Software Integration enables the MIO-2361 to offers various types of selected embedded OS including Windows 10 and Linux Yocto BSP for testing hardware drivers and devices to prevent unauthorised data access. MIO-2361 is also integrated with WISE-PaaS/DeviceOn IoT device management software. This software has been designed by Advantech to expedite IoT development, particularly in factory automation.

The SBC also offers superior quad-core performance with a 12V/24V power supply equipped with Intel Atom E3900 series /Pentium N4200/Celeron N3350 processors, to offer 1.7 times the compute power that is possible with previous generation processors, says Advantech. When paired with a quad-core processor, MIO-2361´s additional memory and rapid storage capabilities enhance co-ordinated computing by accelerating operational processes.

The MIO-2361 also supports 12V/24V power supply for power-exchange processing, reduces power consumption, and facilitates the integration of existing data without T

The wide operating temperature range (-40 to +85 degrees C) is designed for use in harsh environments. The SBC’s heatsink is designed as a dynamic heat conduction system which enhances thermal conduction from hot components to the heat spreader. MIO-2361´s heatsink outperforms similar designs by dissipating heat from the CPU more effectively, Advantech claims, and it also reduces temperatures by approximately 11 to 25 degrees C.

There are two RJ45 ports (rear I/O and right-angled HDMI4.1b) to provide a flexible I/O selection. The use of onboard LPDDR4-2400 is designed to decrease the total height, providing the MIO-2361 with the smallest PCB size (100 x 72mm), claims Advantech, which fits in any slim embedded chassis to save space. The MIO-2361 also features 32G eMMC flash memory for smooth onboard computation with low thermal dissipation power (TDP).

The MIO-2361 is intended for electric car recharging stations, outdoor video players, as well as for factory automation equipment.

It is bundled with value-added IoT device management software with support for  the Advantech WISE-PaaS/DeviceOn IoT device operation management software. This allows the board to be integrated, operated and managed within an industrial IoT devices ecosystem. DeviceOn has an easy-to-use interface to monitor device health, have real-time control of power on/off, troubleshoot, and perform updates over-the-air (OTA) on-site and remotely.
