Open source software is for signal integrity, says Teledyne
At DesignCon 2020 (28 to 30 January), Teledyne will demonstrate SignalIntegrity, an open source software tool to help engineers effectively design for Gigabit per second transfer rate systems. The Python-based software provides the tools for simulation, modelling and measurement.
Engineers use traditional, but difficult-to-understand, microwave techniques to send error-free data at high speeds inside PCBs, cables, connectors and other high speed interconnects. Teledyne LeCroy’s serial data analysers, signal integrity network analysers and signal integrity Studio software include acquisition and analysis tools to help minimise the time required to pinpoint signal integrity issues. SignalIntegrity software provides extra analysis capabilities to Teledyne LeCroy’s WavePulser 40iX high speed interconnect analyser, which is a single measurement tool for hardware designers and test engineers. WavePulser’s combination of s-parameters and impedance profiles in a single acquisition with a deep toolbox provides characterisation insight of high-speed interconnects.
Teledyne LeCroy says this open-source software enables engineers to access the SignalIntegrity source code, and then modify and extend it to aid their work in test and design on protocols such as Gigabit Ethernet, Infiniband, Fibre Channel, USB, HDMI and SATA. The software can be used for linear circuit and system simulation solving for interconnected circuits and s-parameter blocks, de-embedding, virtual probing and viewing s-parameter files.
SignalIntegrity software can be used by engineers in a variety of industries including computer, semiconductor and consumer electronics, data storage, automotive, industrial, military, aerospace and telecommunications to test, design and understand signal integrity.
At DesignCon 2020, the company will host a live tutuorial, “Open-Source Software Tools for Signal Integrity”. The session will include several use-cases to teach attendees how to use the tool to solve various problems. It also will provide educational content on s-parameters.
