Multi-Gbit networking switches add speed and power

To keep up with the demands of bandwidth for Wi-Fi 6 access points and supply maximum power for devices, EnGenius Technologies has expanded its Cloud switching range.

The company has added multi-gigabit PoE++ switching with its ECW5212FP and ECW5212 to meet the demands of Wi-Fi 6 access points that support over 1Gbit speeds and power devices that exceed 30W.

The ECW5212FP and ECW5212, are the first of many switches that will be released in 2020 to serve the increasing demand of new technology in mid to large environments like student housing, condominiums, assisted living facilities, hotels and resorts, says EnGenius. The devices will not only future-proof but further expand the capabilities of the company’s cloud-managed networking platform EnGenius Cloud.

The EnGenius ECW2512FP and ECW2512 are multi-Gbit L2+ networking switches providing enterprise-class features for simplifying network configuration and monitoring. The EnGenius switches have eight 2.5Gbit ports that automatically detect the speed needed by the end device. Both the ECW5212FP and ECW5212 support 120Gbits per second switching capacity with the ECW2512FP supporting one of the latest PoE standards, 802.3bt, for higher powered devices like Wi-Fi 6 wireless access points, AV controllers, PTZ cameras, digital signage and lighting. The switches also come with four 10Gbits per second SFP+ slots that extend connectivity via fibre for uplinks, redundancy, and failover.

The switches use the subscription-free EnGenius Cloud which includes real-time system metrics, deep-dive analytics, network troubleshooting and advanced view to display network topology with the devices and relationships.

The EnGenius ECW2512FP and ECW2512 are scheduled to be available in February.

EnGenius Technologies specialises in wireless communications and radio frequency (RF) technology. The company was established over 20 years ago and is focused on delivering feature-rich, long-range, wireless networking solutions for voice and data that empower mobility.
