Wolfspeed’s SiC module is available from Richardson RFPD
The latest addition to Wolfspeed’s XM3 power module range, the CAB425M12XM3 is available from Richardson RFPD. The 1,200V, 425A silicon carbide (SiC) XM3 half bridge module is optimised for switching loss, says Wolfspeed.
The distributor also offers full design support capabilities for the SiC module from Wolfspeed, a Cree Company.
The CAB425M12XM3 is half the weight and volume of a standard 62mm module but maximises power density while minimising loop inductance, says the company, and enabling simple power busing. The XM3’s SiC-optimised packaging enables 175 degree C continuous junction operation. A high-reliability silicon nitride (Si3N4) power substrate ensures mechanical robustness under extreme conditions, adds Richardson RFPD.
The CAB425M12XM3 targets applications with maximum current requirements at high switching frequencies, focused on power density, including vehicle fast chargers, uninterruptable power supplies, motor and traction drives, and smart-grid or grid-tied distributed generation.
The CAB425M12XM3’s dimensions are 80 x 53 x 19mm. The half bridge module has a blocking voltage of 1,200V and a current rating of 425A.
Richardson RFPD also offers an inverter reference design, the CRD250DA12E-XM3, to evaluate the module and to support development.
The CAB425M12XM3, CRD250DA12E-XM3 and other power modules in the XM3 family are available now.
