ABB adds higher output voltages to CLP power supply family

Additions to the CLP open frame power supply range help support power ranges of 150 to 500W and output voltages of 5.0, 12, 24, 28, 48, and 54V DC.

ABB has added the CLP0212DC (36 to 75V DC input, 12V DC output, 200W output); the CLP0248 PoE+ (90 to 265V AC input, 54V DC output, 200W output); the CLP0412 (90 to 265V AC input, 12V DC output, 450W output); the CLP0424 (90 to 265V AC input, 24- or 28V DC output, 450W output); the CLP0448PoE+ (90 to 265V AC input, 48- or 54V DC outputs, 450W output) and the CLP0512 (90 to 265V AC input, 12V DC output, 550W output power).

The design architecture is optimised for components, placement and electrical routing to provide more power in less space, says ABB. The combination of power performance and minimal footprint make the CLP power supplies suitable for industrial equipment, telecommunications equipment, robotics, 3D printers and network routers and switches.

Today’s engineers are often faced with the challenge of adding functionality while maintaining similar or smaller footprints for products. “This trend is especially prevalent in today’s power-hungry industries –such as 5G, data centres and robotics,” said Raj Radjassamy, senior product manager, ABB. “We’re packing more power conversation capability into smaller spaces, improving power density . . . and freeing up valuable space for additional features or components to be built into their products,” he said.

The CLP open-frame power supply is engineered with a fanless design, using conduction and convection cooling instead of moving parts to help enable higher reliability than fan-cooled components. The family provides high power densities of up to 22.14W per inch3, and features operating efficiencies of greater than 90 per cent. Models also facilitates AC input voltages of 90 to 265V and DC input voltages of 36 to 75V.
