Microchip FPGA kit supports AI, says Mouser

Hello FPGA Kits from Microchip simplify FPGA development for artificial intelligence (AI) and image processing applications, says Mouser Electronics.  The kit has been developed for end users with low to medium experience with FPGAs. In addition to support for AI and DSP prototypes, it includes a power monitor graphic user interface (GUI) that allows developers to measure FPGA core power consumption while running designs. The kit is suitable for the development of communications, industrial, aviation, medical, and defence applications.

The Microchip Hello FPGA Kit includes the FPGA mainboard, a camera sensor board, LCD board and USB cable. The FPGA mainboard is based on the SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA. The low-power SmartFusion2 device combines FPGA fabric with a 166MHz Arm Cortex-M3 microcontroller subsystem that includes 256kbytes of embedded flash, extensive peripherals, instruction cache and Embedded Trace Macrocell.

The FPGA mainboard also includes a Microchip PIC32MX7 microcontroller to control the SmartFusion2 SoC and to monitor power. There are also Arduino and Mikroe mikroBus connectors for prototyping and expansion options. The kit can work as a standalone unit as well as an extension to existing Microchip kits over the PICkit header.

Mouser Electronics says it is focused on the rapid introduction of new products and technologies. Over 800 semiconductor and electronic component manufacturers partner with Mouser to help them introduce their products into the global marketplace.

The distributor has a broad product line and claims to stock the world’s widest selection of the latest semiconductors and electronic components for the newest design projects.

Mouser Electronics’ website is continually updated and offers advanced search methods to help customers quickly locate inventory. It is available in multiple languages and currencies and features more than five million products from over 800 manufacturers.  It also houses data sheets, supplier-specific reference designs, application notes, technical design information, and engineering tools.

Mouser Electronics, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is an authorised semiconductor and electronic component distributor. Mouser offers 27 support locations around the world and ships globally to over 630.000 customers in more than 223 countries/territories from its facility south of Dallas, Texas.
