Surface mount li-ion battery protectors suit smart appliances
Mobile and portable smart appliances, consumer electronics and power tools can be protected with the ITV Series of li-ion battery protectors from Littelfuse. The three-terminal, surface mount devices protect against the damage caused by both over-current and over-charging.
An embedded fuse element cuts off the circuit when over-current issues occur. A heater element, directly embedded under the fuse element, generates enough heat to blow the fuse once overcharging is detected by IC or FET.
The design provides fast response and reliable performance to interrupt the charging or discharging circuit before the battery pack becomes over-charged or over-heated.
There are five compact, surface-mount packages, in the series, available in current ratings of 12, 15, 30 and 45A.
Robust over-current / over-voltage protection and surface mountable packaging is recommended for li-ion battery packs used in robotic appliances, e-bikes and e-scooters, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), emergency radio and eCall systems and power tools, says Littelfuse.
According to the company, the surface mountable form factor improves assembly efficiency and the low internal resistance minimises power loss.
The ITV series of protectors carry UL and TUV certifications for compliance with industry standards.
They are supplied by Littelfuse in environmentally-friendly RoHS-compliant, halogen-free packages.
The ITV Series surface mount battery protectors are available in tape and reel format. Sample requests may be placed through authorised Littelfuse distributors worldwide.
