Integrated DC/DC converters reduce design time

Low radiated emissions is a characteristic of the ADM2867E, says Analog Devices. The reinforced iCoupler isolated RS485 and integrated, isolated DC/DC converter enables solutions that meet EMC compliance with fewer board spins and budget over runs, says the company.

The transceiver’s simplified PCB layout and small SOIC form factor integrate more functionality into space constrained applications than earlier generations made possible and more than is currently offered by products available from competitors.

This isolated RS485 + integrated isolated power transceiver series includes smart features that reduce end system install and debug time allowing for easy correction of installation-based connection errors. The ADM2867E features iCoupler digital isolation and IEC 61000-4-2 ESD, to maintain signal integrity in the harshest of environments, says the company.

The ADM2867E is a 5.7kV rms isolated full duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with 8mm creepage. It offers CISPR32 Class B emissions on a two-layer PCB without stitching capacitance.

It has flexible supply rails with low voltage to interface to FPGAs and microprocessors and has Profibus support with a 5V isolated supply.

The ADM2867E RS485 duplex model is in full production now in a 28-lead fine pitch SOIC, which measures 10.15 x 10.05mm. The half duplex RS485 ADM2561E is sampling now with full production scheduled for this month. It is available in the same package as the ADM2867E.
