Pan1780 Bluetooth 5.0 module is available from Farnell
Panasonic’s Pan1780 Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) module is now shipping from distributor, Farnell. The module is based on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52840 single chip controller.
The compact module measures just 15.6 x 8.7 x 2.0mm and uses Bluetooth 5.0 with the qualified Bluetooth mesh profile stack, making it suitable for IoT devices within smart city infrastructures, industrial mesh networks or robotics within smart factories.
The module is based on Arm’s Cortex M4F processor, 256kbyte RAM and 1Mbyte flash memory to eliminate the need for an external processor. This saves complexity, space and cost, says Farnell.
The module is also characterised by low current consumption for use with battery powered devices. It has output power of up to 8dBm.
Security features from the Arm TrustZone CryptoCell 310 security subsystem enable secure device operation. The Pan1780 is therefore suitable for smart health and secure medical peripherals, or edge computing.
The Bluetooth 5.0 enables a higher symbol rate of 2Mbits per second via the high-speed LE 2M PHY with significantly longer range possible using the LE coded PHY at 500 or 125kbits per second. New LE advertising extensions allow for much larger amounts of data to be broadcasted in connectionless scenarios. The Pan1780 also supports Type 2 near field communication (NFC-A) for use in simplified pairing and payment solutions (where an external antenna is required).
Operating temperature range is -40 to +85 degrees C. The module is also equipped with a built-in temperature sensor.
Farnell says it is the only high service distributor to hold this module in stock in Europe, with orders despatched the same day.
