Latest InnoSwitch flyback switcher IC targets EV applications

Qualified to AEC-Q100, the InnoSwitch3-AQ is the latest flyback switcher from Power Integrations. It has an integrated 750V MOSFET and secondary side sensing.

The InnoSwitch3-AQ uses Power Integrations’ high-speed FluxLink coupling to achieve ± three per cent accuracy for combined line and load regulation while eliminating both dedicated isolated transformer sense-windings and optocouplers.

FluxLink technology maintains output voltage regulation even under the transient stress test, which is particularly challenging for primary side regulation (PSR) -based implementations, advises Power Integrations.

The integrated 750V MOSFET meets stringent automotive de-rating requirements, and an on-chip synchronous rectifier controller delivers above 90 per cent efficiency at the nominal 400VDC input voltage.

According to the company, optimized InnoSwitch3-AQ designs achieve less than 10mW no-load energy usage across the input voltage range.

The InnoSwitch3-AQ family ICs are packaged in a surface-mount InSOP with 11mm primary to secondary creepage, which exceeds the stringent requirements for high altitude ( above 5000m) isolation.

The IC device family targets automotive electric vehicle (EV) applications, such as traction inverter, on-board charger, energy management DC/DC bus converters and battery management systems (BMS).

The DER-840Q reference design incorporates the InnoSwitch3-AQ IC demonstrates start-up, shutdown and efficient operation from 30 to 550V DC input, as well as fast transient response.

InnoSwitch3-AQ ICs are available in the InSOP-24D package. Devices are available now and technical support for the chipset is available from the company’s website.
