PC1597 PCIe card’s active cooling aids power-hungry applications

VadaTech’s latest PCIe card, the PC1597, is based on Xilinx’s VU13P UltraScale+ FPGA. The module front panel I/O is via six board mount optical assemblies, each providing 12 channel full-duplex transceivers with clock data recovery (when using 28G transceivers) and fibre I/O via MTP/MPO (multi-fibre pull off/ multi-fibre push-on) connectors. There are two speeds of transceivers available: 10.6Gbits per second and 28.1Gbits per second per channel, both with multi-rate capability.

The 10.6Gbits per second option can drive 100m over OM3 multi-mode (MM) optical fibre and the 28.1Gbits per second version can drive 100m over the OM4 multi-mode fibre. The high number of ports allows a single FPGA to be the central point for data aggregation with over 1,700Gbits per second total bi-directional I/O, says VadaTech.

The PCI597 is based on the Xilinx VU13P UltraScale+ FPGA, which provides over 12,000 digital signal processing (DSP) slices, 360Mbit of UltraRAM and 3,780k logic cells. The PC1597 provides active cooling of the FPGA, making it appropriate for power-hungry applications. The FPGA has an interface to dual DDR4 memory channels (a dual bank of 64-bit wide, 32Gbyte total). This enables large buffer sizes to be stored during processing as well as for queuing the data to the host.

Additionally, 16 PCIe Gen3 hard IP blocks are routed to a x16 PCIe edge connector. There is also an expansion connector to access a second PCIe x16 slot in the chassis supporting push/pull of data to the host at an aggregated x32 PCIe.

VadaTech manufactures integrated systems, embedded boards, enabling software and application-ready platforms for embedded computing ranging from board-level products, chassis-level platforms, to configurable application-ready systems.

The company has a focus on AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, VPX and PCIe solutions and electrical, mechanical, software, and system-level expertise which enables it to provide customised commercial or rugged computing solutions to meet the most complex customer requirements. VadaTech also offers specialised product solutions for VME, CompactPCI, and other architectures.

The company is a member of PICMG and VITA. VadaTech has headquarters, design and manufacturing facilities in Henderson, Nevada, USA and design, support and sales offices in Europe and Asia Pacific.
