Infineon unveils new generation of power MOSFETs
Power MOSFETs in the StrongIRFET 2 series can be used in a range of applications, says Infineon Technologies. The 80 and 100V MOSFETS are the available from Infineon’s distribution partners.
The MOSFETs are designed to provide a price/performance ratio that appeals to designers. They are optimised for both low- and high-switching frequencies and support a broad range of applications, including switch mode power supplies (SMPS), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), motor drives, battery-powered tools, battery management and light electric vehicles.
StrongIRFET technology offers 40 per cent RDS(on) improvement and over 50 per cent lower Q g compared to the previous generation, says Infineon. This translates to higher power efficiency for improved overall system performance. Increased current ratings allow for higher current carrying capability, eliminating the need to parallel multiple devices. This in turn leads to lower bill of material (BoM) costs and board savings, advises Infineon.
The StrongIRFET 2 products are supplied in a TO-220 package and are available for order now. The family comprises a broad range of R DS(on) classes in 80 and 100V. The new portfolio will be available in various packages continuing with TO-220 FullPAK, D 2PAK, D 2PAK 7-pin and DPAK.
