DAC chip is music to ears of hi-fi equipment designers

For expressive playback of classical music in high fidelity (hi-fi) audio equipment, the 32bit BD34301EKV is the first DAC IC in Rohm’s MUS-IC series.

The BD34301EKV is designed to maximally extract and convert high resolution audio data to analogue. Rohm also offers the BD34301EKV-EVK-001 evaluation boards to test the performance of the IC.

The DAC chip reproduces the target sound quality by incorporating a circuit in the signal processing block to check audio quality, emphasising spatial resonance, sense of scale and quietness. Low noise and distortion (130dB SN ratio, -115dB THD+N) provide the high performance demanded by hi-fi audio equipment. The customisable digital filter allows audio equipment manufacturers to create equipment to their own specifications.

The BD34301EKV is available now. An evaluation board (BD34301EKV-EVK-001) is also available. Samples are available through online distributors, Digi-Key, Mouser and Farnell.

Rohm Semiconductor develops and manufactures SiC diodes and MOSFETs, analogue ICs, such as gate drivers and power management ICs to power transistors and diodes to passive components.

Production is in manufacturing plants in Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and China.

Lapis Technology and Lapis Semiconductor (former OKI Semiconductor), SiCrystal and Kionix are companies of the Rohm Semiconductor Group. Rohm Semiconductor Europe has its head office near Dusseldorf, Germany, serving the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
