28-port GbE switch from MPL is compact for saving power in tight spaces

Designed according to MPL’s own checklist of flexibility, low power, famless, extended temperature and long term availability, the uMagbes is a manageable Gbit Ethernet (GbE) switch of up to 28 ports. The fourth generation switch is designed to be flexible, rugged and a managed Gigabit switch suitable for any defence application

The uMagbes-Mil is compact. MPL can offer a 10-port switch in an IP67 housing with two 38999 connectors that has dimensions of 130 x 130 x 55mm. It can, says MPL, be integrated in small spaces, with other housings and configurations available, including an individual LAN connector for each port.

The uMagbes-Mil has lockable headers to interface to 38999 connectors so that it complies to any defence specification, MPL says. If one or more fibre port is required, then this can be provided with a standard product from the company.
The standard input power requirement of the uMagbes is 5.0 to 36V DC and the device uses less than 6W at full speed with 10 ports operational. Other input voltages can be offered depending on specification.

The switch can be operated in an environment of -20 to +60 degrees C, and optionally -40 to +85 degrees C. It does not need to be cooled by a fan.

The uMagbes is designed to be operated in a master-slave configuration and is available with up to 28 ports or more, including a command line interface (CLI) option. All ports have status LEDs, showing the activity and speed of each port and are available on an external LED panel. The same applies for the reset switch and the default settings.

The uMagbes has a configurable via web interface (including SSL), Telnet, SNMP (incl. SNMPv3) or RS232/USB (CLI), a port-based and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN and IEEE 802.1D rapid spanning tree. There is also IEEE 802.1X MAC address checking and port monitoring and switch statistics.

All MPL products are designed for long-term availability and the uMagbes will be available for at least 10 years. MPL’s own component stock guarantees repairs for up to 20 years. Extended temperature ranges can be fulfilled and are tested in MPL’s own climatic chambers according to customer’s request.
