Tantalum capacitors by Vishay Intertechnology save board space

Wet tantalum capacitors for military, aerospace radar and oil exploration use by Vishay Intertechnology operate at up to 200 degrees C. The HI-TMP T24 series surface mount wet tantalum capacitors are supplied in the compact C case. They measure 9.0 x 7.1 x 7.4mm and have a tantalum metal case with a glass to tantalum hermetic seal. The size and footprint is smaller than equivalent through-hole and over-moulded high temperature devices, says Vishay. The T24 series capacitors are designed to use board space more efficiently and deliver increased reliability.

Optimised for timing, filtering, energy hold-up, and pulse power applications, the devices offer improved thermal shock capability to 300 cycles and provide a longer life of 2,000 hours at +200 degrees C, eliminating the need to use larger through-hole devices in demanding environments.

The T24 series features 200 degrees C derated voltage ratings of 45V DC and 75V DC, with capacitance values of 33 and 10 microF, respectively. Capacitance tolerance is ± 10 and ± 20 per cent as standard. The devices operate over a temperature range of -55 to +85 degrees C, to +200 degrees C with voltage derating. They provide maximum ESR down to 2.5 Ohm at 120Hz and +85 degrees C. The capacitors are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.

Samples and production quantities of the T24 series are available now, with lead times of 10 weeks.

Vishay claims to manufacture one of the world’s largest portfolios of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components for use in the automotive, industrial, computing, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical markets.
