Screw terminal aluminium electrolytic capacitors increase current capacity

Aluminium electrolytic capacitors from TDK have screw terminals and increase current capability compared with the company’s previous series. The Epcos B43706 and B43726 series capacitors are designed for rated voltages between 400  and 500V DC and cover a capacitance range of 820  to 15,000 microF.

A special feature is the high-rated current capability of up to 56.1A AC (100Hz, 85 degrees C), says TDK. In standard operating conditions (for example, at 300Hz, 60 degrees C, 2m per second), currents of up to 100A can reached, the company adds. These values represent an approximate 25 per cent increase in the current capability in the case of rated conditions in contrast to TDK’s previous series.

The robust capacitors are designed for a service life of 12,000 hours at 85 degrees C. A precise service life calculation can be performed with the online AlCap Tool, apcvailable at the company’s website. Similar to other Epcos screw terminal capacitors series, the company offers a range of options such as heat sink mounting or special terminals available as reverse polarity protection.

The capacitors are particularly well suited to frequency converters and industrial power supplies as well as UPS systems. Capacitors can be used for converters in renewable energy applications, such as wind power and photovoltaic systems. They can also be used in industrial frequency converters and power supplies and uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems.

TDK was established in 1935 to commercialise ferrite, a key material in electronic and magnetic products. TDK’s portfolio features passive components such as ceramic, aluminium electrolytic and film capacitors, as well as magnetics, high-frequency, and piezo and protection devices. The product spectrum also includes sensors and sensor systems such as temperature and pressure, magnetic, and MEMS sensors, power supplies, energy devices and magnetic heads.

TDK products are marketed under the product brands TDK, Epcos, InvenSense, Micronas, Tronics and TDK-Lambda. TDK focuses on demanding markets in automotive, industrial and consumer electronics, and information and communication technology. The company has a network of design and manufacturing locations and sales offices in Asia, Europe, and in North and South America.
