PSoC 64 microcontrollers protect against scalable software attacks
In addition to Level 1 compliance for Arm’s Platform Security Architecture (PSA), Infineon has announced that its PSCoC 64 microcontrollers are now certified to PSA Level 2.
With this certification, developers of IoT systems have an extended level of trust when they use PSoC 64 secured MCUs, which are equipped with the Arm PSA holistic set of threat models, security analyses, hardware and firmware architecture specifications.
The Level 2 certification includes a laboratory evaluation of the PSA Root of Trust (PSA-RoT) to provide evidence that devices can protect against scalable software attacks. The evaluation labs use vulnerability analysis and penetration testing of the PSA-RoT to establish if the nine security requirements of the PSA-RoT protection profile have been met.
The PSoC 64 microcontrollers are suitable for cloud-connected applications that are required to protect user data and trustworthy firmware updates, including personal healthcare devices and home security equipment.
Infineon’s PSoC 6 architecture is built on a low power 40nm process technology, and the microcontrollers user low power design techniques to extend battery life up to seven days for secured wearables. There is a choice of dual-core Arm Cortex-M4 or Cortex-M0+ architecture. Designers can use the microcontroller’s software-defined peripherals to create custom analogue front-ends or digital interfaces for innovative system components, such as electronic-ink displays. The PSoC 6 microcontroller also features Infineon’s CapSense capacitive sensing technology for touch and gesture-based interfaces.
