Software defined radios have multi-channel and full-duplex capabilities

Multi-channel and full-duplex capabilities have been added to the E-LynX family of software defined radios by Elbit Systems. The additional capabilities substantially increasing network throughputs, says the company, and enables multi-domain digital transformation.

When using radio systems with single or dual radio frequency channels, the ability of tactical users to transmit and receive information is dependent on channel availability, which limits the reach and network presence of the users.  Elbit Systems’ patented multi-channel technology enables simultaneous use of multiple radio frequencies for transmission and reception, using one or more waveforms, providing all-time network availability and presence.

The multi-channel network capability improves spectrum resource allocation and enhances the capability to execute concurrent missions while maintaining fast, resilient, secured, interoperable and immune communications in any terrain, says Elbit. The full-duplex technology enables tactical users to exchange information simultaneously and have dynamic conversations, accelerating the flow of information in the battlefield, instead of allowing access to the network for a single user, one at a time as is the case with current tactical radio technologies.

Elbit Systems will deliver more than 10,000 multi-channel full-duplex E-LynX SDR systems under several multi-domain digital transformation programs in Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Brazil and Israel.

Elbit Systems is an international high technology company engaged in a wide range of defence, homeland security and commercial programs throughout the world.
