Powell Electronics stocks hygiene-sensitive stainless steel enclosures
For hygienic applications, Hammond Manufacturing’s stainless steel junction box enclosures, the HYJ range, are now available from Powell Electronics.
The enclosures are designed to withstand high temperatures and high pressure wash-downs in applications such as food processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing and other applications where maintaining hygiene and the avoidance of contamination are required.
The HYJ enclosures do not have areas where contaminants can gather, such as slotted screw heads, quarter turn latches or welded mounting brackets. The sides all slope to ensure any water drains off quickly.
They are available in five sizes from 202 x 124 x 102mm up to 416 x 338 x 203mm (height x width x depth). The rectangular design enables the enclosures to be surface mounted either vertically or horizontally to suit most applications. The cover of each enclosure is secured to the body with either four or six crevice-free hex head bolts – depending on the size of the enclosure. Each bolt is fitted with a silicone washer to eliminate potential dirt traps. The blue silicone gasket makes any contaminants more visible. This is fitted beyond the door edges, so that there are no crevices in which dirt can collect. The enclosures are mounted on stand-offs to eliminate difficult to clean areas behind them. These are available in four lengths and ensure that the device is fixed proud of the wall to facilitate the wash down of all faces.
