Fischer Elektronik extends packaging options to meet automatic machines

The increasing trend for packaging forms that are suitable for automatic machines continues, reports Fischer Elektronik. As a result, the company has received a significant increase in the number of enquiries and orders for machine-compatible packaging, or tape and reel packaging, for connectors in recent months.

Fischer Elektronik has developed two new pick and place pads for the automated placement of male headers with a grid pattern of 1.27mm. In addition, the SLV W 3 surface mount connector, the SLV W 4 surface mount model and the SLV W 5 surface mount connectors in the male header series can be ordered with pick and place pads in a choice of packaging options: the bar magazine or tape and reel. The company also develops and produces customised bar magazines and tape and reel packages specifically for an application.

The pick and place pad in a bar magazine packaging option is available for B SM connectors while pick and place pad in tape and reel packaging options are available on request for the B TR connectors on request.

All designs, grid patterns and possible numbers of contacts (depending on the connector type) from two to 20 or 40 contact models can be ordered in this packaging option. Where necessary, a pick and place pad is applied as a plastic moulding or used as a Kapton disc. Those are removed after the soldering process.
