Blackfly S camera is small enough for unmanned aerial systems
Weighing just 36g, the BFS-PGE-123S6P-C is the latest addition to Teledyne Flir’s Blackfly S GigE camera range. The 12Mpixel camera has on-sensor polarimetry and is suitable for applications dealing with reflective and/or challenging lighting conditions, such as traffic systems, UAS (unmanned aerial systems), inspection lines with transparent or reflective parts, and other uncontrolled lighting environments.
The camera pairs the Sony IMX253 MZR sensor with a glare reduction feature built into Teledyne Flir’s Spinnaker software development kit (SDK) which can dynamically reduce reflections from non-metallic surfaces. The SDK is designed to make application development and deployment fast and easy, says the company. The GigE cameras with PoE also capitalise on the lossless compression feature, delivering up to 14 frames per second at full resolution without compromising on image quality. Measuring 29 x 29 x 30mm it is significantly lighter and more compact than alternatives currently available, says the company.
Resolution is 4096 x 3000 at 10 frames per second and up to frames per second with lossless compression enabled. Teledyne Flir offers long distance cable options.
