DC/DC converters have reinforced insulation for high side gate drive power
Encapsulated, through hole, 2W DC/DC converters from Flex Power Modules have reinforced insulation and low isolation capacitance, delivered in an industry-standard SIP-7 format.
The PUC-D2BG series includes nominal 12, 15 and 24V inputs and a selection of dual, unregulated outputs. The DC/DC converters are suitable for asymmetrical positive and negative gate drive voltages for a variety of semiconductor switches, including IGBTs, GaN, silicon and silicon carbide MOSFETS. The PUC-D2BG series features 6kV DC isolation with reinforced insulation to a 250V AC working voltage and safety certification to IEC/EN/UL 62368-1.
The DC/DC converters are suitable for isolated ‘high-side’ gate drive power and features low isolation capacitance, typically less than 6pF, which prevents excessive circulating currents with the high dV/dt seen in typical bridge applications such as motor drives and inverters.
Operating temperature range is -40 to +100 degrees C ambient with derating. Full power is available to +85 degrees C in convection cooled environments. Efficiency is typically 80 per cent. The parts require no minimum load and offer continuous short circuit protection.
