Power module is optimised for three-phase inverters
Infineon has added another member to the CIPOS Tiny Intelligent Power Module (IPM). The 600V 15A IPM series CIPOS Tiny IM323-L6G is based on Trenchstop IGBT RC-D2 switches and SOI gate driver technology. According to Infineon this realises maximum efficiency and improved reliability, along with minimised system size and cost.
Infineon’s Intelligent Power Module (IPM) CIPOS Tiny IM323-L6G is optimised for three-phase inverters up to 1.2kW and an operating range of 1.0 to 20kHz. It uses the latest 600V Trenchstop RC-D2 technology with monolithically integrated diode with maximum junction temperature 175 degrees C for the switch. Equipped with the rugged C5SOI gate driver technology for negative voltage spikes at the motor outputs, the IPM ensures a short-circuit capability of at least three micro seconds.
The integration of discrete power semiconductors and drivers in one package allows designers to reduce the time and effort spent on design, significantly shortening the time to market, advised Infineon. The module is suitable for major home appliances, in particular drives for room air conditioners.
In case of over-current and under voltage, the IPM provides cross-conduction prevention and turn-off of all switches.
The IM323-L6G is moulded in a robust and pin-compatible 33 x 19mm2 DIP with built-in NTC. According to Infineon, it offers improved package robustness for high reliability.
Infineon uses full in-house production for front-end and back-end to provide supply security.
The IM323-L6G and iMotion Modular Application design kit can be ordered now. By the end of 2022, the CIPOS Tiny IM323 range is planned to be expanded to include variants with 6.0 and 10A.
