Two network security appliances extend ANS range to SD-WAN applications
Support for 5G and Wi-Fi 6 are provided with two network security appliances from Portwell. The ANS-9A44F and ANS-9A42F is suitable for SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network) applications and support 5G and Wi-Fi 6.
The two security appliances use the Intel Atom C3558R 4C processor and C3758R 8C processor, providing multiple I/O interfaces, with two GbE LAN ports, two SFP+ ports, two GbE PoE+ ports, two GbE RJ45/SFP Combo ports, a RJ45 console, two USB3.0 ports, two M.2 Key B Slots (PCIe and USB 3.0 signals), two M.2 Key E Slots (PCIe and USB 2.0 signals), four SIM Slots and PCIe x4 slots.
According to Portwell’s product manager, Ben Hsieh, the design features of ANS-9A44F and ANS-9A42F uses Intel Atom C3558R and C3758R to support QAT (Intel QuickAssist Technology) and Data Plane development kit (DPDK) to provide better network transmission performance and security. Two 10G ports can provide enough bandwidth to transmit a large amount of data. For IoT applications, the security appliances provide two PoE+ ports, although two PoE Devices can also be connected.
The advantage of combo ports is that it can supports different fields on different GbE interfaces. In addition to wireless support via two M.2 Key B/Key E slots, there are four SIM card slots, which can be used on LTE / 5G / Wi-Fi 5 / Wi-Fi 6 applications. LED lights demonstrate the strength of Wi-Fi / LTE signals and can provide connection / action lights for all I/O ports to distinguish the transmission status on the same side of the system. A PCIe x4 slot has been reserved mainly for expansion which creates higher flexibility for users under different applications, said Hsieh.
The ANS-9A44F and ANS-9A42F measures just 215 x 180 x 42mm. ANS series are all desktop design and support wall mount kits. Two ANS series products can be rack mount installed in a 1U space.
