Varta addresses energy storage in an upright manner

Alternative energy storage systems are constantly sought and one of the latest is from Varta. The Varta.wall energy system is in a die-casr aluminium housing and will be presented at Smarter E Europe (11 to 13 May, in Munich, Germany). The space saving energy storage system has an installation depth of 100mm.

The Varta.wall is equipped with a special boost function to increases the security of supply in emergency power mode.

Peter Werner, general manager Energy Storage Systems, Varta, commented tha the Varta.wall “heralds a generation change in our stationary storage systems”.

It is the first high voltage storage system from Varta with a capacity of 10 to 20k hours. Depending on the inverter used, the power is between 5.24 and 10.4kW. Up to five systems can be operated in parallel.

The storage system is capable of providing emergency power and can supply an entire house with electricity in the event of a grid failure. A boost function increases the discharge rate (C rate), which is 0.5 in continuous operation, to 0.75 for a short time. This enables the storage system to absorb peak loads, such as those that occur when electronic devices are started.

The Varta.wall’s module design and connector system allows it to be installed in less than 30 minutes. The storage system is compatible with SMA and Kostal inverter brands. The modular design means the storage device is suitable for a variety of system configurations. In addition, said the company, the Varta connector system ensures that the system components do not have to be wired.

Varta has announced plans to launch other devices and services for energy self-sufficient living, including a wall box.  and a separate electricity tariff. The company is thus establishing itself as a partner for all households that are promoting their own energy transition.

Varta will be in hall B1, stand 210 in Smarter E Europe.

Varta produces and markets a comprehensive battery portfolio from micro batteries, household batteries, energy storage systems to customer-specific battery solutions for a variety of applications.
